In a village in Cameroon’s North West province, a six-year-old girl studied by the light of a cooking fire because there was no kerosene for the lamp. She woke before dawn without a clock. She borrowed textbooks her parents could not afford. Her father, a plantation worker, had lost his job in the economic collapse of the mid-1980s, and the family had returned to the village to survive it.

From a Village Classroom to Institutional Advisory

Dr. Atud’s academic path was deliberate. She began with a degree in Economics and Women & Gender Studies in Cameroon — a combination chosen because she had watched capable women, her mother among them, kept from education by structures no one had asked them to consent to. She wanted to understand those structures well enough to dismantle them.

South Africa followed: a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management, a Master’s degree in Management and Marketing Information Technology, and a doctorate from the University of the Witwatersrand. She began her career teaching economics at secondary level, then moved into the private sector as a practising economist. In 2012 she left to build what she had been preparing for — an enterprise practice devoted to transformation.

She holds a research fellowship at the University of South Africa (UNISA), consults to the African Union and the African Peer Review Mechanism, is a licensed financial advisor, and carries the Google Cloud Generative AI Leader credential — an unusual pairing that lets her sit credibly in both a policy chamber and a technical architecture review.
